Summer 2008 Wine Club Selection
The Summer Wine Club selection is ready. Club members who have their wine shipped should already have received their wine. The Summer Selection for our Red and White Wine Club is one bottle each of our 2006 "Henry's House" Amador County Zinfandel, 2006 Sierra Foothills Tempranillo and 2007 Amador County Sauvignon Blanc.
For members of our All Red Wines club, the selection includes a bottle of our Amador County Deavers' Blend instead of the Sauvignon Blanc. Each of these wines will compliment your dinner table as spring turns to summer. They’ll go wonderfully with the fresh and fanciful meals typical of the warmer weather.
Be sure to order additional wine at your Wine Club Member 20% discount: 2005 Pinot Noir $239.88 per case of twelve bottles, 2005 Petite Sirah $220.68 per case, 2006 Chardonnay $182.28 per case and 2004 Sangiovese $182.28 per case. Sales tax and shipping will be added to each order if necessary.

Originally from the Rioja Valley of Spain, the Tempranillo grape is well adapted to cultivation in the Sierra Foothills. Our summer days are hot enough to grow the thick dark skins from which come the rich color and bold flavor. Our nights cool down to allow the development of the delicate hints of strawberry, plum, cherry and leather. Pair Tempranillo with lamb or fresh water fish dishes, particularly stews with lots of vegetables. Or, if you really want a traditional taste treat, pair our Tempranillo with a paella garnished with sautéed fresh vegetables and steamed clams or mussels.

Our 2007 Amador County Sauvignon Blanc is produced in a classic style to show off the full flavor of the grapes. As with most fine Sauvignon Blancs, this wonderful wine will stand up to dishes that would overpower most other dry white wines. Pair it confidently with recipes that include cilantro, raw garlic, smoked cheeses, bell peppers and tomatoes. In addition to traditional fish dishes, our Sauvignon Blanc can easily share your table with pork loin, veal cutlets and even BBQ ribs.

Amador County is famous for the way we produce our Zinfandel and Italian varietals. Our soil and climate are just right for Barbera which came from the Piedmont region of the Valley of the River Po in Northern Italy and Sangiovese originally from Tuscany. Add to those varietals our very own world-class Zinfandel and you’ll begin to understand the popularity of our Deaver’s Blend. Enjoy!
